Clinton Health Matters Conference

The Clinton Foundation’s Health Matters Conference is the anchor event for the Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) during which innovations and best practices elicited from CHMI strategic partnerships are featured. The Health Matters Conference showcases corporations, non-governmental organizations, and individuals that have made a significant investment in contributing to the health and well-being of others. We have over 100 million in new strategic health investments expected to positively impact 50 million lives and are pleased to report that this is in addition to last year's commitments to action of which ninety percent are already completed or well underway.

Another successful conference!

As the content lead of the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Conference, I work with a small but mighty dream team to make this event successful. The amount of work that goes into this event is unbelievable and everyone involved works above and beyond the call of duty. We work hard, but I wouldn't do it if it weren't for the team I have the honor of working with, Ginny Ehrlich's leadership (CEO of Health Matters), the speakers I get to lead through content, On the Mark Promotions and Metro Connections (our production teams this year) and the palm trees. Palm trees do help! Photos coming soon.

We had an amazing group of speakers this year and if you missed the live-streamed event, you can watch each panel here

#HealthMatters2014

Hashtag Health Matters 2014

That's taking up most of my time these days and it's a blast. I work as the content lead for the Clinton Foundation Health Matters Initiative's annual conference that serves to highlight success stories and best practices of individuals, businesses and organizations promoting the health and wellbeing of Americans. It's basically a day of commitments. It's not just people sharing what they hope to do, or what their passion is, but fully committing to new programs, updating or creating new policies and fostering partnerships. It's an exciting event to be a part of.

My role as the content lead is quite fun. I have the opportunity to talk with all the people sharing a featured pledge, moderators and panelists. I get to guide them through the run of show and my hopes from them from a content perspective. I have about 10 other smaller responsibilities throughout the conference, like working with the production company to make sure slides are accurate with panelists names and titles. I read everyone's 150 word bio and edit for the program. But, the content for this conference is my responsibility.

We have an excellent slate of moderators and panelists this year and as soon as I can share those publicly, I will. Get excited, however, we have some amazing people sharing amazing work and personal stories!

So, tune in on Tuesday, January 14 to http://www.clintonfoundation.org to watch the conference live-streamed. Engage by using the hashtag for this conference (#HealthMatters2014) to send in questions and comments. Yes, moderators will see questions pushed through via Twitter and Poll Everywhere and use them. We are striving for a conference without walls, so be a part of it!

CHMI Houston Blueprint Event

photo 1.JPG

Clinton Foundation's Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) invited me for the third time to facilitate a breakout session at their third Blueprint Meeting. I not only love working with the CHMI team, but it is inspiring meeting local public health stakeholders, experts and advocates. I have had the opportunity to facilitate this process in both Coachella Valley CA and Little Rock AR prior to facilitating Houston's Blueprint Meeting.

"The Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI) works to improve the health and wellbeing of all people by activating individuals, communities, and organizations to make meaningful contributions to the health of others. The goals of CHMI are to reduce the prevalence of preventable health outcomes, close health inequity and disparity gaps, and reduce health care costs by improving access to key contributors to health for all people." -Clinton Health Matters Initiative

The Blueprint meetings are essentially a way to kick off the Initiative locally and spend the rest of the day in working sessions. 9 content area break-outs occur and local stakeholders from those content areas are invited to participate in a day-long process to determine 5 bold action steps that will be implemented within that content area within the next 5 years. The CHMI Regional Director, a local person hired to lead the communities CHMI efforts over the next 5 years reviews the work from the 9 break-outs and develops the local 5 year Blueprint for Action. The final Blueprint product in Palm Springs, Little Rock and Houston (and soon, Jacksonville FL) are all incredibly different since each community has it's own unique needs and expertise. The Clinton Foundation is the convener for the Blueprint meetings, however the Blueprint itself is created and implemented by the local community.

As a facilitator of a break-out, I've thoroughly enjoyed all three Blueprint meetings. Great work CHMI and I'm looking forward to Jacksonville FL coming up in a couple of weeks!
